A Christmas ESL Story for Reading & Listening Practice
Part 1: The Wish
In the small tropical town of Sunnyvale, Christmas was always warm and green. But Mia, an 8-year-old girl, dreamed of having a "real Christmas" with snow.
Every night in December, she looked up at the starry sky and whispered, “I wish for snow this Christmas!”
One afternoon, while shopping with her mom at the local Christmas market, Mia spotted a shiny snow globe at a little stall.
Inside the globe, tiny snowflakes swirled around a small cabin in the woods. The old shopkeeper smiled at Mia and said, “Shake this snow globe, and you might just see a Christmas miracle.”
Mia begged her mom to buy it, and soon, the snow globe sat on her bedside table.
Part 2: The Miracle Begins
That night, Mia couldn’t wait to try it. She shook the globe and whispered, “I wish for snow in Sunnyvale!”
The snowflakes inside the globe danced faster, and the room filled with a soft, silvery glow.
Startled but excited, Mia closed her eyes and fell asleep dreaming of snow.
The next morning, Mia woke up to something incredible—a frosty chill in the air.
Running to her window, she gasped. Snowflakes were falling gently, covering Sunnyvale in a sparkling white blanket.
Part 3: A Magical Christmas
Mia and her friends spent the day building snowmen, making snow angels, and throwing snowballs. Everyone in town was amazed, saying, “It’s a Christmas miracle!”
That evening, as Mia admired the snow globe, she noticed something new: the little cabin inside now had a light glowing in its window, as if someone was watching over her wish.
Mia smiled and whispered, “Thank you, magic snow globe. This is the best Christmas ever!”
