What Is a Group / Collective Noun?
A group noun is a single word that describes a group of people, animals, or things.
👉 Examples:
A team of players
A flock of birds
A bunch of grapes
Even though a group noun refers to many members, it’s treated as singular in English grammar.
✅ Example: The team is winning the game. (Not “are”)
🌼 💭 Tip #1: Learn in Themes
It’s easier to remember group nouns when you study them by topic.
Try focusing on people, animals, or things one at a time instead of mixing them up.

🗂️ 💭 Tip #3: Make Your Own Word List
Create a “ Group / Collective Noun Journal.”

Let's learn and practise more about Group Nouns with the story below:
🌸 The Garden of Many Groups
Mia loved her little garden. Every morning, she opened the window and watched a flock of birds singing in the trees. Their music made her smile.
One day, she noticed something new — a swarm of bees buzzing near the roses. They were busy collecting nectar, flying from one flower to another.
“Don’t worry,” she whispered softly. “You can share the garden.”
A few minutes later, a colony of ants marched across the path, carrying tiny crumbs from Mia’s breakfast. They looked so serious that Mia laughed.
Then her friends arrived — a team of gardeners from the neighbourhood. Together, they trimmed the bushes and planted fresh flowers. When they finished, Mia stood back and looked around.
There was life everywhere:a bouquet of daisies on the table, a herd of butterflies dancing in the sunlight, and even a choir of frogs singing from the pond.
“It’s a garden of many groups,” Mia said happily. And she was right — her garden wasn’t just full of plants. It was full of harmony. 🌼
